The RDS 1 encoder is a simple to use rackmount unit that provides a cost effective solution for radio stations who wish to broadcast to their listeners the following basic information using the Radio Data System.
1. Station Name (PSN)
2. ProgramType/Genre (PTY)
3. Music or Speech Setting (MS)
4. Program Identifier (PI)
Unlike other RDS encoders this unit does not require a computer to setup or operate. Setup is simple using the intuitive 4-button user interface which allows all the basic RDS parameters to be programmed.
The encoder is able to transmit basic RDS information such as the programme service name(PS). Programme identification(PI) and Programme type(PTY). Decoder information and music/speech flag are also supported. All options and settings are controlled from the front panel LCD display. Unlike other RDS encoders this unit does not require a computer to setup or operate.
The encoder provides several ways of connection to a broadcast transmitter ensuring compatibility with virtually all transmitters. There is a virtual earth mixer to mix the RDS with your audio and 'standalone mode' RDS output for connection to the RDS input of a compatible transmitter.
This RDS encoder does not offer pilot phase synchronisation. While receivers will still decode the RDS data in stereo usage it is recommended that this encoder is used for mono broadcasts only.Take a look at the RDS2 and RDS3 if you require pilot sync.

Simple to set up and to use. I am very much liking the fact you don't need a computer to use it.
